About this activity
A long wiggly caterpillar sings its two-colour pattern as each round segment bounces in turn, then waits at an empty ring on its tail. The child rolls in the berry that comes next, nine berries in all, until the caterpillar wraps up and comes out a butterfly with its pattern on its wings.
What students learn
- Hear and see a two-colour repeating pattern, such as red, blue, red, blue.
- Continue the pattern with the colour that comes next.
