About this activity
Wire real circuits on a workbench to light the lanterns in a haunted house's windows: a simple circuit, a row in series that a ghost darkens with one blown bulb, the same row rewired in parallel, then a conductor hunt with objects in a gap.
What students learn
- C2.6: build a simple circuit and explain the job of the battery, wires, switch and bulb
- C2.7: build series and parallel circuits, explain why one blown bulb darkens a series row but not a parallel one, and name a use of each
- C2.3: identify materials that are good conductors and good insulators by testing them in a circuit
