About this activity
Plan a living 3D town on the land you choose. Build parks to a ratio rule, power every home with your land's turbine and solar rates, zone a percent of green lots, forecast savings by running the days, and cut traffic with a bus line.
What students learn
- Build to a ratio rule and keep it true as a quantity grows (equivalent ratios, B2.12)
- Use unit rates (power per day) to meet a total need without waste (B2.12)
- Find a percent of a whole with mental math: 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 50% (B2.3)
- Forecast the day a daily rate reaches a savings goal, including a starting amount (B2.12)
- Work out a percent decrease and increase, and the percent change between two amounts (B2.12, B2.3)
