About this activity
A side-scrolling forest run for Grade 1. A picture word is read aloud; the runner jumps onto the word block that rhymes with it. Each block says its word as the runner comes near, a wrong block wobbles and says its word next to the picture word, and every rhyme opens the forest door and brings a new friend along.
What students learn
- C3.1 Identify rhyme: hear which spoken word rhymes with a picture word
- B2.1 Isolate the sounds in spoken words: tell a rhyme from a word that only shares its first or middle sound
