Be the Marker: The Library Writing Contest

About this activity

On one projector, the class is the judging panel of a fictional county library's youth writing contest. For each pair of original first-draft opinion essays by fictional Grade 10 writers, the class commits its own marks on the OSSLT's two scales with a marker's slider and decides which entry is stronger and why, before the panel reveals its marks, reasons and red pen; then the class picks the one revision that would lift the weaker entry most.
