About this activity
Four short pond stories read with a big glossy 3D slime that sits on the storybook page. Every reading strategy is something the student does to the slime: it swallows the guess that fits the title and the picture, slides along each sentence, stretches an arm to the sentence that answers a question, picks up the answer words, checks the guess, squishes onto the main idea and splits into blobs to order the events.
What students learn
- C2.3: make a prediction from the title and the cover picture, then find the sentence that confirms it or shows the story changed, and adjust the guess
- C2.4: reread a short story to find the sentence, and then the exact words, that answer a question
- C2.6: tell what a story is mostly about (not one small detail) and put its important events in order
